This year’s BBQ on the Green has an exciting selection of music across our main stage and acoustic stage, starting from 12pm. Below highlights some of the artists who will be performing on the day. Come down and be entertained!
Special Thanks go to the Charitable Emporium who will be providing us with our stage, PA and sound engineer this year!
Richard Foot (formally of Under Fire) brings you his new collaboration, the covers band ‘Echohead’. With over twelve years experience on the local circuit, the new four-piece line up offers high energy indie-rock hits from The Jam, The Clash, Blur and Oasis through to Kasabian, The Foo Fighters and The Killers.
Gecko & The Bee
Gecko and The Bee’s music seeks to create a relationship with the listener through ethereal honesty, bearing intimate corners of her personality over smooth melodies. Her sound echoes that of the pioneers of conversational folk honesty like Joni Mitchell and Nick Drake whilst simultaneously modernising it with the electronic finger picking heard in the likes of Wolf Alice. Feeling is paramount to the sound of Gecko and The Bee’s music as instruments are used to minimal effect to create an atmosphere than sensitises the listener to every vocal line and guitar melody. The instrumental skill refuses to be overlooked by the song’s atmosphere and honesty. As an Area Finalist of OpenMicUk, Gecko and The Bee has proved she is as fearless in her performances as she is in her creation of honest and authentic music. Dedicated, talented and compelling – Gecko and The Bee’s music is capable of winning over festival audiences listening to her for their first time.
Fleur Lindsay Band
Fleur is an upcoming, 15 year old singer/songwriter. She has released a number of original singles, all of which have been played on BBC Music Introducing. Her most recent single was released by Relentless Records, marking a further step in her music career.
Our other great Party Band also back again. Wonky Donkeys are a 4 piece band that cover all sorts of music, it’s the music you know but don’t hear every night played by all the other bands.
Wonkey Donkeys are all experienced musicians who play to have fun, take our music seriously and love having fun together while they entertain audiences.
Emma Hardy is a 17 year old singer songwriter equally at home playing guitar and singing her own songs and covers at gigs or performing in local musical theatre shows where she can combine her singing with acting and dancing. Her live music set consists of mainly upbeat acoustic covers performed either solo or as a member of a duo/trio with either Paul Denson on bass or Sean Samber on lead guitar. For larger events there is also the Emma Hardy Band which adds drums to complete the setup. Emma has been featured on BBC introducing and has played live on BBC Radio Solent, a busy girl currently studying for her A Levels whilst rehearsing three times a week for Dirty Rotten Scoundrels the Musical (April 24th to 27th at the Regents Centre Christchurch) and gigging when time allows! She is looking forward to playing again at the BBQ on the green 2020 and hopes to see a nice crowd as usual.
